What Are Dental Veneers?
Dental veneers are ultra-thin shells — typically 0.3 to 0.7mm thick — bonded to the front surface of teeth to improve their appearance. They can address almost every cosmetic concern: discoloration that doesn't respond to whitening, chips and fractures, uneven shapes, small teeth, gaps, and mild crowding.
When designed well, veneers are completely indistinguishable from natural teeth. The key word is designed well — veneer work is as much an art as it is a science, requiring a deep understanding of dental aesthetics, facial proportions, occlusion, and material properties. This is precisely the domain of a prosthodontist.
"I already had veneers before but they looked completely artificial. Dr. Abdullah took my case with so much care, patience, and professionalism. Over two months, he redesigned my entire smile — today I finally have my perfect smile back. He is an expert in his field, incredibly skilled, and genuinely dedicated to his patients."
Porcelain vs Composite Veneers
Two main veneer materials are available, each with distinct advantages. At your consultation, Dr. Abdullah will recommend the most appropriate option based on your specific case, budget, and goals.
Porcelain Veneers
- Most natural-looking result
- Highly stain-resistant surface
- Lifespan of 10–15+ years
- Lab-fabricated for precision fit
- Requires minimal tooth preparation
- Best for severe discoloration
- Higher cost, longer process
Composite Veneers
- Completed in a single visit
- More affordable option
- Reversible — no tooth removal
- Easily repaired if chipped
- Lifespan of 5–7 years
- Suitable for minor corrections
- May stain slightly over time
What Problems Can Veneers Fix?
Severe Discoloration
Tetracycline staining, fluorosis, and intrinsic discoloration that whitening cannot address.
Chipped Teeth
Restore fractured or worn teeth to their original shape and length.
Uneven Shape
Correct teeth that are too small, too short, or irregularly shaped.
Gaps & Spacing
Close minor gaps between front teeth without orthodontic treatment.
Mild Crowding
Improve the appearance of slightly misaligned front teeth cosmetically.
Complete Smile Redesign
Transform multiple teeth simultaneously for a fully coordinated aesthetic result.
⚠ Important: Veneers Are Not Always the Right Answer
Veneers require irreversible removal of a thin layer of enamel in most cases. For patients with mild discoloration or minor crowding, teeth whitening or clear aligners may be a better first option. Dr. Abdullah will always recommend the most conservative appropriate treatment — not the most expensive one.
The Veneer Process at Smile Hub Clinics
Smile Design Consultation
A comprehensive assessment of your teeth, gums, facial proportions, and aesthetic goals. Photographs are taken and we discuss the shape, shade, and size of veneers that will look most natural on you. Digital smile design may be used to preview results.
Tooth Preparation
A minimal amount of enamel is removed from the front surface of each tooth — typically 0.3–0.5mm — to create space for the veneer. This is done under local anaesthesia. Impressions or digital scans are taken and sent to the dental laboratory.
Temporary Veneers
While your permanent veneers are being fabricated in the laboratory, temporary veneers are placed to protect the prepared teeth and give you a preview of the final result. This is a critical stage — feedback at this point shapes the final design.
Trial & Approval
The final veneers are tried in without permanent bonding. Shade, shape, and fit are verified. Any adjustments are made before bonding. Your approval is required before we proceed.
Bonding
The teeth are etched, a bonding agent is applied, and the veneers are permanently cemented using light-cured composite resin. Excess material is removed and the bite is checked and adjusted. The result is immediately visible.
Review Appointment
A follow-up visit one to two weeks later checks the gum response, bite comfort, and your overall satisfaction. Minor polishing adjustments can be made at this stage.
Why Choose Smile Hub Clinics for Veneers?
Prosthodontic Expertise — The Difference That Shows
FCPS Prosthodontist: Prosthodontics is the specialty of dental aesthetics and reconstruction. Dr. Abdullah's postgraduate training is specifically in designing and placing restorations that look, feel, and function like natural teeth.
Veneer redesign experience: We have treated patients whose previous veneers from other clinics looked artificial or didn't fit properly. Correcting poorly made veneers requires a higher level of skill — and it's a case type we handle regularly.
Full smile integration: A prosthodontist considers the entire occlusal system — how your teeth bite together, the wear patterns, the gum architecture. Veneers that look beautiful but compromise the bite fail prematurely. We design for longevity, not just aesthetics.
Patient-controlled process: Your feedback at the temporary stage drives the final result. We don't bond permanently until you are satisfied with the preview.
Honest case selection: If whitening or aligners will give you a better result with less irreversible treatment, we'll tell you. If veneers are right for you, we'll explain exactly why.
